Representatives from the City of Athens, the Athens Economic Development Corporation, and the Athens Chamber of Commerce gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday to celebrate completion of the Athens Reserve, 2050 State Highway 31. The project, a partnership between the City and Wallace Ventures, transformed the long-abandoned Quality Inn motel into a 122-unit affordable housing complex. Supported by a Chapter 380 economic development agreement, Athens Reserve will provide modern, workforce-friendly studio apartments to meet a critical housing need while revitalizing the surrounding neighborhood.
